The best Tudor Black Bay 58 homage
The Black Bay's signature is a pair of hands. The snowflake — square-tipped, borrowed from Tudor's 1969 French Navy issue — is what makes the watch recognisable across a room, and it is the one thing a homage has to get right. Four watches in our database, ranked on our fidelity rubric.
1. San Martin SN008-G — highest fidelity, currently unbuyable
About $326, fidelity 85. The best case finishing and the closest gilt dial in the field. It wears 40mm against the 58's 39, which is the one place it misses. Sold out in every variant on San Martin's own store at our 28 August check — a watch to watch for a restock rather than to buy today. Usually cheaper direct from San Martin.
2. Addiesdive AD2043 — the best you can actually buy Amazon ↗
About $149, fidelity 81. The correct 39mm, snowflake hands, gilt dial and a domed crystal — the four cues that matter, at under half the San Martin. Finishing is a tier below and the bracelet is the usual budget weak point, but on proportion and dial it is the closest live option.
3. Octopus Kraken OCT-0025 — better built, different watch Amazon ↗
About $245, fidelity 80. The best-made watch on this page — a Swiss-class PT5004 automatic, snowflake hands, domed sapphire, 200m. The catch is in the name: it is a BB54 homage at 37mm, tracking the 2023 Tudor rather than the 58 this page is about. If you want the smaller vintage proportion it is the best buy here; if you want a 58, it is the wrong watch well made.
4. Addiesdive AD2044 — the $99 GMT reading Amazon ↗
About $99, fidelity 74. Correct 39mm and snowflake hands, but quartz and a GMT — a second time zone the real BB58 does not have — with 100m water resistance against the original's 200m. Buy it as a travel watch that looks like a Black Bay, not as a dive watch.
